Technology Development Group Ethics Speech
We joined the Engineering Ethics seminar organized by BUSIAD and Uludag University on April 4th, 2017. Students from the Department of Automotive and Environmental Engineering participated.
Mr. Direkci, Senior Executive Consultant, started the presentation by explaining the meaning of the concept of ethics, stated that the concept of morality is used in social and social life and that the concept of ethics is found more in business life. Mr. Direkci said “Concepts such as truthfulness, honesty and sincerity are principles of professional ethics. To be honest, fair, impartial, and not to lie is extremely important in business life. “You should always be reliable when you get to work, during work, during managing, and quitting your work ” he said. “Every one of you will be an engineer after a year or two,” he said. Being an engineer means to be the future of a country. Being an engineer is special, but being a good engineer is something much more special. I think that the sacrament of engineering must be defined as well as the sacrament of medical doctors. Everyday an average of 7 people in Turkey cannot go home because of work accidents. The most basic rule of changing this statistic is the responsibility of the people who will be trained and who will be in the future. If you cannot do something, or if you are not competent at a job, do not take responsibility for it. ”
“If you work properly, success comes to you”
Stating that efforts should be made to become a role model, Direkci said that in doing so, it should always strive to be fair. Direkci said, respecting nature and the environment, should also value the concept of work safety. Always be in the respectful projects. See people as human beings, because everything is based on humanity. You must treat all people equally without any discrimination. You should pay attention to compete honestly in business. The competition conditions in business life should always be ethical. “If you do your work with responsibility, your success will be with you. If you make a minority of your job description, you get critics. If you make your job properly, you get the praise. If you make your job extraordinary, you get extraordinary outcomes and gains.
In your life, you need to always look for perfection and excellency. Reputation is that when other people is talking about it while you were away. If you are honest and moral, you will always be reputable. For that reason, it is very important to live honestly, to promote ethics and to be sincere in order to lead a reputable life.
