Dear Horasis Participants,

We have learned over the last several years, the world needs to work together for society’s benefits.

As you all know, the last 10 years were one of the worst years on record for natural disasters— governments, organizations, and communities attempt to rebuild. In the wake of these global catastrophes, we as TDG decided to formalize “Coder in Action Initiative” to support, to brace new types of responders which are Coders, Software Developers and Technology Developers.

When I am thinking about the subject of this year “Technology is Driving Change for the Better” I have several examples in Coder in Action Initiative.

First one is Zelzele 1.0 which is about Earthquake;

In 2021, the subject of Coder in Action was Earthquake. Around 20 people applied to Coder in Action Competition with their new ideas  to support victims, to protect victims. The winner of the competition was Zelzele 1.0 which is a product against earthquakes I can say.

Zelzele 1.0 was developed by Idris & Mustafa who are students in University.

Zelzele 1.0 contains two separate devices containing receivers, transmitters and sensors. One is installed inside the apartment. Another one installed outside of the building. The inner device detects earthquake movements and activates the system immediately and start to send data about inside of the building. Outside module is starting to send those data to government agencies or earthquake HQs with radio transmission. These two modules continue to send and receive those data up to 48 hours depending on the battery life.

These data contains;

• How strong is the earthquake.
• How many seconds of earthquake is occurred.
• The geolocation of the devices
• How many live or death bodies under the wreck.
• With a sensitive microphone, it records and sends all sounds through the building.
• With powerful speakers rescue teams can send their voice to the victims under the building’s wreck.

Can you imagine how important product it is for society, for us if you face with earthquake disaster once a day.

My second example is Doris. The one of our partners brought this project and we decided to support them.

Doris is an eco-friendly vacuum cleaner robot indeed. It is seen like a normal boat, but it is a robot. It cleans the sea surface and send the daily, weekly, monthly reports to make organization smart. It is an autonomous or user-controlled robot depending on your choice. Doris is reducing marine pollution naturally.

Those are good examples of technology use that creates a better world, better society.

As all of you know we have a sustainability issue in the world, and we have to find a solution and relief the world somehow. For example, all new buildings in our cities can generate THEIR OWN ENERGY WITHOUT PLUG IN THE ELECTRICTY INFRASTRUCTURE. The same thing can be applied to Cars, Cars can generate THEIR OWN ENERGY WITHOUT PLUG IN THE ELECTRICTY INFRASTRUCTURE. With just some changes in policies, laws and regulations, engineers can make this happen within 5-10 years.

Since our meeting subject is “Technology is Driving Change for the Better” I  want to talk about Artificial Intelligence (AI) little bit. All we know AI is very popular nowadays and driving the change in our technology and our life. We as TDG also support and develop AI product and services for our clients. And there are thousands of companies giving AI services. But the important point in AI product and services is “Ethical Values of AI” which will guarantee to support our society in positive way. When I am saying Ethical values of AI, I mean, transparency, privacy, human focus, trustworthiness, and user data rights in summary. So, I would like to invite all AI companies to define and declare their “AI Ethical Values” to make the community sure, their products will support public in positive ways.

So, in my last words, Governments and corporations have played an important role in driving society and create productive and healthy environment.  That’s why supporting projects like Zelzele 1.0 or Doris is very important, regulating AI services is very important for our society to make our technology “to drive change for the better”. And, what I believe is, we all need to focus on investing in new startups, new projects, new technologies which have “ethical values” to make technology drives change for the better.”
